OLLI at ASU in collaboration with AUIP Study Abroad Program presents 'OLLI Corps New Zealand'

The OLLI Corps Arizona State University Lifelong Learning journey through New Zealand’s North Island offers a rich blend of cultural discovery, service learning, and scenic exploration across Auckland, Rotorua, Napier, and Wellington.

From Auckland’s vibrant harborside to Rotorua’s Māori heritage and geothermal landscapes, Napier’s art deco character, and Wellington’s creative energy and sustainability focus, participants will experience the many dimensions of Aotearoa.

Intercultural highlights include a traditional hāngī dinner with cultural performance, an immersive marae visit with Māori hosts, and a guided waka experience that brings ancestral stories, teamwork, and connection to the environment to life on the water.

The program’s community engagement is equally meaningful: participants will support habitat restoration at Te Henga wetlands, coastal stewardship with Sustainable Coastlines, youth development and social enterprise at Sheepworld/Springboard, food justice work with Kaibosh, and carbon reduction efforts with Sustainability Trust.

ASU OLLI Corps welcomes ASU Associate Dean and Faculty member, Megha Budruk in collaboration with Discover Corps to bring this immersive service learning trip to Kenya in June 2027. The trip offers a rich blend of wildlife encounters and cultural experiences. Travelers will come face-to-face with the world’s last remaining northern white rhinos, embark on a safari through iconic landscapes to spot zebras, giraffes, hippos, lions, and more, and gain meaningful insight into local life by accompanying a Maasai tribesman in the Maasai Mara while contributing to community projects. The adventure can be extended with a relaxing visit to the Indian Ocean island of Zanzibar, Tanzania.
