ASU OLLI Corps

ASU OLLI Corps is a unique program for adults who seek more than just sightseeing when they travel. It was created to meet the growing demand among healthy, active adults aged 50 and better who want to contribute their skills and experience to international development efforts through short-term, faculty-led service-learning programs. The program enhances participants’ well-being and sense of purpose by engaging them in meaningful community service and cultural immersion.

Participants act as mini-ambassadors, promoting peace and friendship while supporting community-driven projects in host countries. Through immersive learning and reflection, OLLI Corps fosters intercultural understanding, global friendship, and personal growth.

Aligned with ASU’s mission of being socially embedded and globally engaged, OLLI Corps leverages university resources and faculty expertise to create impactful, sustainable service-learning opportunities. Ongoing reflection, evaluation, and a commitment to sustainability ensure that both volunteers and the communities they serve benefit meaningfully from every program.

The OLLI Corps Experience

  • Immersive Experience: Immerse in local cultures and ways of life, foster cross-cultural collaboration and understanding, witness innovative solutions to global challenges in education, environment, and gender equality
  • Faculty Lead: Benefit from ASU faculty leadership and enriched curriculum.
  • Cohort-Based: Each trip is organized as a cohort, fostering community and shared learning among participants; collaborate with other OLLI Corps members to maximize learning and impact
  • Pre-Departure Orientation: Participants attend a virtual orientation via Zoom to prepare for the trip and connect with their group. In addition, we strive to host an in-person social gathering before departure, providing an opportunity for participants to meet and get acquainted.
  • Post-Trip Gathering: After returning, participants are invited to a celebratory gathering or reunion—an opportunity to reconnect, share memories, and stay in touch with fellow travelers.
